He’s Going To Win.
November 1, 2008
We at Moxie’s World don’t believe in magic, karma, supernatural forces, the Holy Spirits, Baal, witchcraft, astrology, or any of that kind of nonsense. And we don’t think saying it is going to jinx things. Barack Obama is way ahead in the polls. It’s not close. It’s not within the margin of error. The polls aren’t off by many points because of the Bradley Effect. It’s not closing, narrowing, or anything else. This is not Game 7 of the World Series. This is not the Red Sox. Polls are remarkably accurate, no matter what Rick Davis may be telling you. Never in American history has a candidate been this far ahead in the polls (never mind with a large chunk of the electorate already having voted!!) this late in the game and then went on to lose.
Can McCain still win? Yes, he can. But only in the sense that the next airplane you fly on could crash on takeoff – the odds are overwhelmingly against it.
I STRONGLY urge you to listen to wunderkind Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com. Go to the site. Read up. Learn. McCain could still win, but if he does, we don’t live in a democracy. Simple as that.
That having been said, we at Moxie’s World aren’t sleeping too well…
