Mussina Retires

November 21, 2008

It’s official – Mike Mussina has reitred. He turns 40 in a couple of weeks.

From the NY Times:

“Mussina retires with a 270-153 record, and though he is sometimes cited as being less than dominant, finishing 117 games over .500 is extraordinary. Every pitcher with 100 more victories than losses who is eligible for the Hall of Fame is in.”

Not surprising they put in a record bid on CC Sabathia:

“The New York Yankees checked in with a reported six-year, $140-million offer to Sabathia. The largest pitching contract is the $137.5 million for six years that Johan Santana is currently receiving from the Mets.”

I’m predicting Sabathia and Burnett go to New York, Derek Lowe comes back to Boston.

You heard me right.
